So today, in honor of launching Molly Lauer Design, it only felt natural to talk about how I got here. I have considered interior design a hobby for some time now, it has always felt like a creative outlet and a natural evolution for me after taking art classes in high school and college.  Ultimately, I started my career as a nurse practitioner but continue to be very passionate about home renovation and design.  My husband, Eric, and I have been working on home projects since he bought his first home (which eventually became our first home) in 2013.  We have tackled everything from floor to ceiling, and have learned so much.  While initially we set out to do everything on our own for budget purposes, I have developed such a passion for design, as I know how transforming a room can change the way a person and their families feel and function in a room.

My most recent Lauer Haus project, our great room, is the project I am most proud of.  I designed everything, and curated pieces old and new to make this room feel like our family.  I love spending time with them in this space.  Eric spent weeks building our built in shelves, and laying the herringbone tile for the fire place.  During the living room project, we also replaced the floors and baseboards throughout the house, adding to the timeline significantly.  I do think this is an important lesson I’ve learned over the years, design takes time, and rooms rarely can be truly completed in a few days.  To me, the most beautiful rooms are curated over years of projects and adding pieces that feel special. These rooms feel so timeless.

I am so excited for this next chapter.  If the last few years have taught us anything, it is that we should spend time doing things that we enjoy.
