As a follow up from my Instagram post yesterday on deliverables for design plans, I wanted to take a minute to talk about why planning is so important prior to implementation.
Over the last 6 years of doing my own home projects, I have learned to be (somewhat) patient with design. it takes a lot of time and patience to make a space your own. We started on the living room in July 2020 when we were spending a lot of time at home. I knew I wanted the space to feel more elevated but still comfortable for our family, as that is the room we spend the most time in. I wanted a space to lounge with my family during movie nights, and it was important to have a plan that allowed for ideal Christmas tree placement! When all was said and done, many of the items I ordered took months to come in, and the start to finish on the renovations was approximately 6-7 months.
While design takes time, I do think it is important to be very intentional with your choices. For me, design has to feel like a space that makes you happy and comfortable. There are so many beautiful things out there, you can easily get sidetracked by the next beautiful thing. You have to nail down the feeling that you’re going for, and consistently check in to make sure each and every choice helps you achieve that. If not, it’s ok to appreciate those things, and you can then move on, working toward making your space feel the way you want it to.
My design plan service is the perfect compliment to each of my clients’ design process. The design plans help them to stay aligned with their ultimate goal, but also allow them to complete projects as their time as budgets allow, without having to worry too much about constraints of current lead times.
As always, feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions about your project!
